3 Types Of Permanent Implant-Supported Teeth

With this treatment, the overdenture rests directly on your gums and is retained by implants placed into your upper and/or lower jaw. The overdenture, which is removable, is secured to your implants through retentive attachments incorporated into the denture. Implant-retained tissue supported dentures are currently recognized as the minimum standard of care for fully edentulous patients.

With this treatment, the overdenture engages retentive attachments on a metal bar that connects to implants, which are placed into your upper and/or lower jaw. The overdenture, which is removable, is secured to the bar through attachments fabricated directly into the denture.

With this treatment, the overdenture and bar are a one-piece framework secured using screws to implants placed into your upper and/or lower jaw. The overdenture is only removable by a Dental Clinician and is the most like natural teeth due to not having flanges and not resting on the gums.

Permanent teeth, often referred to as implant-supported dentures or fixed dentures, are a revolutionary advancement in dental care. Unlike traditional dentures, which can slip, click, or cause irritation, permanent false teeth are securely anchored to dental implants placed in your jawbone. This integration not only provides stability but also stimulates the bone, preventing the bone loss that often accompanies tooth loss.

There is a new technique in tooth replacement utilizing the functionality of implants with the affordable cost of denture implants. “All on 4 implants,” “All On 6 Implants,” and “Teeth Tomorrow” are all branded denture-supported implants using only 6 or 4 implants for an entire arch instead of the traditional 8, making this treatment more affordable and shortening recovery time.

Choosing permanent teeth offers a host of benefits that go beyond aesthetics:

  • Enhanced Stability: Permanent teeth are fixed in place, allowing you to speak, eat, and laugh with complete confidence, knowing your teeth will stay securely in place.
  • Improved Oral Health: By mimicking the natural tooth structure, permanent teeth help maintain your jawbone density and facial structure, reducing the risk of premature aging.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Permanent false teeth require no special adhesives or removal at night. Care for them as you would your natural teeth, with regular brushing, flossing, and routine dental check-ups.
  • Natural Appearance: Each set of permanent teeth is custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, resulting in a seamless, natural-looking smile.
  • Long-lasting Durability: Crafted from high-quality materials like zirconia or porcelain, permanent teeth are built to last, resisting wear and tear while maintaining their luster and functionality.

Step 3: This step involves the surgery of inserting the four implants. This step includes additional treatments, such as tooth extraction and bone shaping. Then the implants are capped with abutments and temporary teeth. At the same time, the jaw bone recovers and slowly begins to fuse with the implants. Diet during recovery must be carefully managed with soft foods to avoid any damage to the osseointegration process.

Step 4: Three months after their initial placement, the temporary teeth are removed and replaced with a permanently fixed denture. Recovery at this point should be relatively quick, with little discomfort.

Our permanent teeth process involves three key steps:

  1. Consultation: A detailed exam, including 3D CT scans, is conducted to assess your oral health and customize your treatment plan.
  2. Implant Placement: Titanium implants are inserted into the jawbone to serve as the foundation for your permanent teeth, ensuring long-term strength and stability.
  3. Restoration: Once osseointegration is complete, permanent false teeth, designed to match your natural teeth, are attached for a functional, beautiful smile.

Permanent teeth, such as dental implants, offer a long-term solution that closely mimics natural teeth in appearance and function. They are securely anchored in the jawbone, providing stability and durability. In contrast, temporary dentures are removable and typically less stable, requiring more frequent adjustments. While dentures are a quicker, less invasive option, permanent teeth offer better comfort, aesthetics, and oral health benefits over time.

While the bulk of the permanent teeth procedure happens during the treatment, post-operative care is just as important as the rest of the procedure. Here’s what you can do to make sure your new teeth last their lifetime:

  • Brush and floss daily, just as with natural teeth.
  • Use non-abrasive toothpaste to avoid damaging the surface.
  • Schedule regular dental checkups and professional cleanings.
  • Avoid hard or sticky foods that could damage the implants.
  • Consider using a night guard if you grind your teeth.

Permanent teeth recovery typically involves a few months of healing, during which the implants fuse with the jawbone through osseointegration. During this time, patients may experience mild swelling and discomfort, which can be managed with medication. After the healing period, permanent restorations are placed, completing the process. Regular follow-ups are crucial to ensure the implants are integrating properly.

While permanent teeth are an excellent option for many people, not everyone may be an ideal candidate. Generally, candidates should have healthy gums and sufficient bone density to support the implants. During your consultation, our dental experts will evaluate your specific circumstances, including your overall health and any underlying conditions, to determine if permanent teeth are right for you.
